Oberson Abels

Xavier Oberson is a professor in Swiss and international tax law at the University of Geneva, and a partner at Oberson Abels SA.

Xavier’s wide-ranging experience includes serving as a judge at the Federal Court of Appeal for Taxation (1994 to 2009), and as president of the Federal Expert Commission (“Rechtsformneutrale Unternehmensbesteuerung”) for the reform of taxation of enterprises.

More recently Xavier was one of a group of experts on “Collaboration internationale en matière fiscale” (International tax cooperation) established by the Swiss Federal Council in March 2009, and on the negotiating team that worked on the new Swiss-US double taxation treaty that year. 

Since 2010 he has also been an active member of the expert’s team “Commission fédérale d’harmonisation des impost directs” (CHID).
